Fab Flournoy’s side held off a valiant fightback from DBL Sharks Sheffield to secure a 100-93 victory at Sport Central behind 28 points and 10 assists from Jaysean Paige.
The Eagles led by as many as 19 in the contest before seeing their advantage cut to a single point late in the fourth before producing a strong close.
Leicester Riders remain in second as they battled back from an early 28-12 deficit to record a convincing 71-94 success away at Worcester Wolves.
JR Holder led the comeback effort with an efficient 28-point haul with Pierre Hampton adding a further 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting.
“We always talk about just keep going – I though our pressure really wore them down,” declared Riders Head Coach, Rob Paternostro.
“I thought it was an intelligent performance, we did a better job in the second half taking care of the ball and it was an excellent win for the guys.
“JR really carried us for a while, but all in all a good job by the roster.”

Plymouth Raiders returned to winning ways with a 94-80 home win over Leeds Force with double-doubles from Brandon Penn and Kinu Rochford, while Worcester bounced back from Friday’s loss to conclude the weekend with an 86-97 victory at Manchester Giants.
