The Weekend Wrap
Manchester Mystics started 2018 off in style with 70-45 victory over BA London Lions at the Copper Box in London on Sunday afternoon in the WBBL Championship.The Mystics were led by Captain Georgia Jones’ 15 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists (a performance worthy of a place on the WBBL All-Star 5 for week 12, with Samantha Roscoe’s performance earning a spot coming off the bench), in what was a true team performance, where all five starters hit doubles figures, Samantha Roscoe (18 points 9 rebounds), Natalie Chaloner (16 points), Dominique Allen (11 points, 8 rebounds) and Rheanne Bailey (10 points) making major contributions.
The next game for the Mystics will be on Saturday 13th January at Oaklands Wolves at 3:45pm.
Manchester Magic will face Hemel Storm in the National Cup Final as the Storm beat Loughborough Student Riders 103-86, to join the Magic in the final on Sunday 21st January at 3:30pm at the University of Eat London Sports Dock. Before that the Magic face a road trip to Kent Crusaders on Saturday 13th January at 4:00pm.
Manchester Magic 2 picked up their second win of the season, 72-60, against Tameside.
Magic U16 had a busy Saturday afternoon beating in-house rivals Trafford U16 106-76 in a fine display from both sides, then the Magic U16s suited up as Trafford U18 and beat Tameside 100-46.
Magic’s U14s all picked up victories, with Magic U14 beating Cheshire Wire 87-26 on the road, Magic 2 U14 beating Cheshire Wire Green 85-49 at home, and Magic 3 U14 beat local rivals Manchester Giants 58-49 also at home.
Mystics U18 came home victorious after a low scoring affair at the City of Leeds, 52-26.
Mystics U14 beat local rivals Stockport Lapwings 90-26, while Mystics 2 U14 were beaten 90-38 at Sheffield Hatters despite a spirited display from the young Mystics team.

Fancy Joining Our Community Leagues?
We’re looking for teams to join our Monday night Adult leagues and Friday night leagues.
Our Monday adult leagues, which restarted on Monday 18th September after the summer break. It costs just £24 per team per game and you’ll be playing at the fantastic Amaechi Basketball Centre in Whalley Range. If you’d like to enter a team or want to know more, contact league organiser Jane Thomas-Johnson on 07968 077138.
We’re looking for junior teams – boys and girls – to join our Friday Night Leagues at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
We are running 4 leagues in total: A Foundation League for mixed abilities (Approximate age range: 8-12). A Development League; (Age range: 9-13); A Premier League for players just below National League standard (Age range: 12-15); and a College League (Age range: 14-17).
