The Weekend Wrap
An undermanned Manchester Magic run out of steam at Hemel Storm, suffering a 87-81 defeat, despite leading the contest for a vast amount of the contest.
The Magic were led by Ryan Lewis’s 29 points and 7 rebounds, with support from Donte Gittens (25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block), Stefan Gill (10 points and 5 assists) and Richard Bell (9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks).
The fight for a play-off spot is still on but Magic can’t afford to lose many more games in order to secure a place in the post-season. Magic move down into 8th place with a 8-9 record.
Up next the Magic is an away trip to face Worthing Thunder on Saturday 3rd March at 7:30pm.
Manchester Mystics beat Caledonia Pride 86-57 in convincing fashion at the National Basketball Performance Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Mystics were led by Rheanne Bailey’s 22 points, with support from Georgia Jones (18 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals), Dominique Allen (12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks), Samantha Roscoe (12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks), Natalie Chaloner (12 points and 5 rebounds) and Charlotte Stoddart (4 points and 10 rebounds).
The Mystics sit in 3rd place in the WBBL table.
The next game for the Mystics will be on Saturday 3rd March against Cardiff Met Archers at 6:00pm at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
Magic U16s were crowned National Cup Champions after a 75-57 victory over Sussex Storm in the Final at Worcester Arena. Saul May was named MVP for his 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Dan Gargan top-scored with 21 points, Ty Jordan had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, Greg Wild had 10 points and 3 assists, and Lyonel Bailiel Noah Tchifounga had 6 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks.
Magic U18 couldn’t make it two from two, coming home with a 89-59 defeat to a strong Charnwood College Riders side in their Cup Final.
Magic U14 demolished Sheffield Junior Sharks 112-35. Magic U16 beat Cheshire Wire 103-38 on the road on Sunday. Trafford U16 beat City of Birmingham 91-73 at home.
Mystics U14 beat the young Tameside Royals Juniors side 108-21 at home. Mystics 2 U16 beat Lancashire Spinners 69-47 at home. Mystics U18 lost 83-60 at home to Charnwood College Riders. Mystics U16 lost 76-68 to West Herts Warriors at home. Mystics 2 U14 lost 62-41 to Tameside Royals at home.

We’re looking for teams to join our Monday night Adult leagues and Friday night leagues.
Our Monday adult leagues, which restarted on Monday 18th September after the summer break. It costs just £24 per team per game and you’ll be playing at the fantastic Amaechi Basketball Centre in Whalley Range. We’re looking for junior teams – boys and girls – to join our Friday Night Leagues at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
We are running 4 leagues in total: A Foundation League for mixed abilities (Approximate age range: 8-12). A Development League; (Age range: 9-13); A Premier League for players just below National League standard (Age range: 12-15); and a College League (Age range: 14-17).
