Damian Drozdz has been declared fit to return to active duty for Belle Vue following a brief injury layoff and will take his place at No.2 for their upcoming home meeting against Somerset on April 30.
The 21-year old suffered a fractured scapula in only his second appearance for the Rentruck Aces in the away leg of their Charity Shield clash against Swindon after coming down hard in his second ride.
The club acted swiftly to sign Paul Starke on a temporary 28-day contract to replace Drozdz, and the Belle Vue management are grateful to him for his contributions to the team during this period.
Director of Speedway Mark Lemon said: “We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Paul Starke for his efforts and contributions to Belle Vue during the short time he has been with us.
“We’re grateful to him for his commitment to the club and we wish him all the very best for the season. At the same time, we are delighted to welcome back Damian Drozdz to the team.
“It was a cruel blow for him to pick up such an injury in only his second meeting here in the UK. But he’s fully recovered now and he’s eager to get his season back on track with Belle Vue on Monday.”
Meanwhile, Steve Worrall has thanked fans “from the bottom of my heart” for their generous donations to his recovery fund, as he prepares for the next phase of his treatments.
Updating fans on Facebook, he said: “Thank you to everyone who has very kindly donated to my recovery fund via Just Giving, and to all the fans at Belle Vue and Scunthorpe for their generosity.
“I’m grateful and humbled by the support from the speedway community after the crash. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all because without this these treatments aren’t possible.”
The world champion, Jason Doyle, is in town on April 23 when the Rentruck Aces tackle the Somerset Rebels while the Cool Running Colts head south to Eastbourne on Saturday April 28.
Tickets for next week’s Premiership home fixture are now available at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
