The Weekend Wrap
The Manchester Mystics lost 82-59 at Leicester Riders on their return to action after couple of weeks off having been knocked out of the Trophy at the group stages.
The return of Commonwealth Games Silver Medallists Georgia Jones and Dominique Allen couldn’t spark the Mystics to victory over energetic Riders side.
Mystics kept it close in the first quarter, ending the period down 21-17. The Riders went on a scoring run in the middle of the second quarter that saw them open up a double digit lead, 42-28 the half time score.
Mystics cut the score to just four points towards the end of the third, but Leicester reopened the lead to 57-48 at the end of the third. The Riders came out strong in the fourth to prevent a Mystics come-back, 82-59 the final score.
Mystics were led by Georgia Jones (23 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals), with support from Rheanne Bailey (17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals), Natalie Chaloner (6 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals), Lauren Thomas-Johnson (5 points and 3 rebounds), Dominique Allen (4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block) Isabel Bueriberi (2 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal) and Samantha Roscoe (2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block).

Greater Manchester Community Basketball is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.
Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects.
Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.
Greater Manchester Community Basketball is one of the groups on the shortlist.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store during March and April on who should receive the £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.
