Manchester Magic and Mystics Weekly Update

The Sevenoaks Suns were crowned Maggie Forber Invitational Basketball Tournament Champions 2018 after an intense weekend of Under 18 Women’s basketball at the Manchester Basketball Centre. The suns Katie Richards was named the Georgia Jones MVP (pictured below).

We would like to thank the parents and volunteers who spent countless ours organising such an incredible event. We’ve had lots of positive feedback from the visiting teams and have already had interest from teams for next year’s event.

Want to play 3×3 basketball? We’re planning on running leagues for men, women and juniors on Wednesday and Sunday nights (8pm-10pm) at the Manchester Basketball Centre. Fancy Joining Our Community Leagues?


We’re looking for teams to join our Monday night Adult leagues and Friday night leagues.

Our Monday adult leagues, which restarted on Monday 18th September after the summer break. It costs just £24 per team per game and you’ll be playing at the fantastic Manchester Basketball Centre in Whalley Range. If you’d like to enter a team or want to know more, contact league organiser Jane Thomas-Johnson on 07968 077138.

We’re looking for junior teams – boys and girls – to join our Friday Night Leagues at the Manchester Basketball Centre.

We are running 4 leagues in total: A Foundation League for mixed abilities (Approximate age range: 8-12). A Development League; (Age range: 9-13); A Premier League for players just below National League standard (Age range: 12-15); and a College League (Age range: 14-17).

7:30 – 9:45pm Open Age Leagues Men & Women – £24 per Team

TUESDAYS
8:30 – 9:30pm Adult-only session for Men and Women who want to learn how to play basketball –  £2.50

WEDNESDAYS
8:00 – 9:00pm Skills Lab Session Age 11-15 (Open to Age 9-17) Boys & Girls – £2.50

FRIDAYS
5:45 – 6:30pm Turn-Up-And-Play Year 3-6 Boys & Girls – £2.50
6:30 – 9:30pm Year 7-13 Coaching/Games Boys & Girls – £16 per Team

SATURDAYS
9:15 – 10:15am Tiny Tots Age 3 – 5 Coaching Boys and Girls – £2.50
9:15 – 11:00am Primary Boys Year 1 – 6 Practice followed by Games – £4
9:15 – 11:00am Primary Girls Year 1 – 6 Practice followed by Games – £4

For Saturday morning primary sessions: Groups are not meant to be a rigid division of school Years, just a guideline.  Just get there and enjoy yourself!
For Tiny Tots sessions we say 3-5 year olds, however, it is up to the parent’s understanding of their child as to whether they feel the child can cope with the session.

Walking Basketball

Walking Basketball at Manchester Basketball Centre

Sundays 7:00pm – 8:30pm £3

Walking Basketball delivers a walking paced version of the fast and furious game we are all used to.

Walking Basketball is suitable for all irrespective of gender, age, size, ability and/or impairment.
