Haris Tournament Help
Hi.
The 13th annual Haris Charalambous Memorial Basketball Tournament for U18 boys takes place at the Manchester Basketball Centre from 27-29 December.
For those that may not know, Haris is one of the most talented juniors to come through the club. From Stretford, he tragically died at the age of 21 after collapsing during a training session with Toledo University in the United States. A former England junior captain, Haris represented the club with distinction. His mother and sister continue to support the club.
The annual Haris Charalambous Memorial Basketball Tournament features some of the best British junior talent as well as teams from Europe and the US. This year is no exception and promises to be another exciting line-up.
That’s why I am writing to you now.
Firstly, if you have time over the busy festive period, we’d love to see you down at the centre supporting all the boys who take to the floor. The level of competition is fantastic and it truly is an inspirational event.
Secondly, we are looking for volunteers to help run the three-day event. There are lots of different roles to fill, so whether you have half a day to spare or all three, any help you can offer will be gratefully accepted.
Thirdly, I’m busy working on the tournament programme and wanted your help in securing some advertising. Adverts cost just £25, with all profits from the tournament going into the Haris Fund, which helps local youngsters pursue their basketball dreams.
Manchester Magic and Mystics welcome all children in school years 3, 4, 5 and 6 to attend our Primary Schools Basketball Festival at the Manchester Basketball Centre (Wilbram Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, M16 8GW), on Saturday 15th December at 1:00pm until 3:30pm.
Our professional and friendly coaching staff will be on court with you teaching you a variety of skills before organising you into teams and letting you play with and against your friends.
Primary Schools and community league clubs/teams are welcome to bring their own teams along, or teams can be formed within friendship groups once you arrive at the Basketball Festival.
The event is free for ALL kids to attend; you just need to bring suitable kit for an indoor sport.
If anyone is interested in coming along, please register your interest in attending by contacting Joe at j.forber@btinternet.com or on 07709 686 496.
