The Weekend Wrap
Manchester Magic suffered an 80-85 defeat at the talented but young side of Kent Crusaders on Saturday afternoon.
With the Magic without the services of big-man Lee Goldsbrough and with usual starter Ryan Lewis coming off the bench, it meant that there was rare starting spots for Tyme Regent-Bascombe and Yannick Onifade.
The visiting Magic team trailed for the majority of the contest, however, they did manage to keep it close throughout with the largest lead for the home side being fourteen points.
The Magic were led by Donte Gittens’ 24 points and 10 rebounds, with Ryan Lewis coming off the bench to score 16 points. A rare start for Yannick Onifade saw him chip in with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Michael Anumba added 11 points, Stefan Gill had 8 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, and Arinze Emeka-Anyakwo scored 8 points.
Manchester Mystics faced another road trip down south against Oaklands Wolves, where they picked up a 76-47 victory on Saturday afternoon in the WBBL Championship.
The Mystics were lead by Dominique Allen’s 22 points and 8 rebounds, with Georgia Jones adding 21 points and 8 assists (Georgia makes the starting 5 while Dominique comes off the bench in this week’s WBBL All-Star 5 for week 13), Lauren Thomas-Johnson with 13 points and 4 assists and Samantha Roscoe adding 7 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.
The next game for the Mystics will be on Sunday 21st January at Durham Palatinates at 3:00pm.
