The Weekend Wrap
It was a massive weekend for our Magic and Mystics Juniors teams at the Junior Final Fours at the National Basketball Performance Centre.
Magic U18 beat Team Birmingham Elite 81-67 in the Semi-Final on Saturday at 4:45pm; they also beat Myerscough College 73-71 after overtime in the on Sunday at 4:45pm to be crowned National Champions!
Magic U18 were led by Michael Anumba (26 points), Sanmi Fajana (16 points) and Dan Gargan (13 points) in the Semi-Final against Team Birmingham Elite and by Michael Anumba picked up the MVP award (25 points and 13 rebounds) in the Final against Myerscough College, he had support from Arinze Emeka-Anyakwo (12 points and 8 rebounds) and Sanmi Fajana (12 points and 7 rebounds).
Mystics U18 lost 32-53 against Charnwood College Riders in the Semi-Final on Saturday at 2:45pm; they then lost 59-41 against Haringey Angels in the 3rd/4th place game on Sunday at 2:30pm to finish fourth.
Mystics U18 were led by Jade Mbam (7 points), Fiona Connolly (6 points) and Lina Asobirionwu (6 points) in the Semi-Final and by Fiona Connolly (8 points), Shona Williams (7 points) and Chloe Andrew (6 points) against Haringey Angels in the 3rd/4th place game.
Magic U16 beat London Greenhouse Pioneers 78-56 in the Semi-Final on Saturday at 12:00noon, they then lost 71-55 against Haringey Hawks in the Final on Sunday at 12:15pm to finish second.
Magic U16 were led by Greg Wild (14 points), Dan Gargan (13 points) and Joshua Grant (10 points) in against London Greenhouse Pioneers in the Semi-Final and by Jason Ani (17 points), Dan Gargan (8 points) and Saul May (7 points) against Haringey Hawks in the Final.
Magic U14 lost 51-50 in a very close game against Brentwood Fire in the Semi-Final on Saturday at 2:45pm; they also lost 68-51 to City of Birmingham in the 3rd/4th place game on Sunday at 10:00am to finish fourth.
Magic U14 were led by Bradley May (16 points), Mandre Costa (14 points) and Benjamin Brown (10 points) against Brentwood Fire in the Semi-Final and by Bradley May (14 points), Ben Brown (10 points), Ali Gohari (6 points) and Anari Stewart-Rhoomes (6 points) against City of Birmingham in the 3rd/4th place game.
The Manchester Mystics season came to an end after a 76-69 defeat at Nottingham Wildcats on Saturday evening in the WBBL Play-off Quarter Finals.
The Mystics were led by Samantha Roscoe (14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal), Georgia Jones (11 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists), Rheanne Bailey (13 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and a steal), Natalie Chaloner (10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals) Lauren Thomas-Johnson (9 points, 4 rebounds and a steal), Dominique Allen (5 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists) and Isabel Bueriberi (7 points, 2 rebounds and an assist).

Magic and Mystics Trials
Manchester Magic and Mystics will be holding trials for its junior teams in early May.
Two days have been set aside for boys and girls to show off their basketball skills.
The trials will be held on Saturday 12th May and Sunday 13th May (attend either day), at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
Mystics (girls) trials will be at 12:30pm – 2:00pm for the following age groups:
Under 12: Current school years 5, 6 (Year 4 Girls welcome)
Under 14: Current school years 7, 8
Under 16: Current school years 9, 10
Under 18: Current school years 11, 12
Magic (boys) trials will be split by age group at the following times:
Under 12: Current school years 5, 6 at 2:30pm to 4:00pm
Under 14: Current school years 7, 8 at 2:30pm to 4:00pm
Under 16: Current school years 9, 10 at 4:30pm to 6:00pm
Under 18: Current school years 11, 12 at 6:30pm to 7:30pm
All abilities are welcome and there is no charge to take part.

We’re looking for teams to join our Monday night Adult leagues and Friday night leagues.
Our Monday adult leagues, which restarted on Monday 18th September after the summer break. It costs just £24 per team per game and you’ll be playing at the fantastic Amaechi Basketball Centre in Whalley Range. We’re looking for junior teams – boys and girls – to join our Friday Night Leagues at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.
We are running 4 leagues in total: A Foundation League for mixed abilities (Approximate age range: 8-12). A Development League; (Age range: 9-13); A Premier League for players just below National League standard (Age range: 12-15); and a College League (Age range: 14-17).
