British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Open Water in Great Britain. It is responsible internationally for the high performance representation of the sport.

Five Open Water swimmers have been selected onto the British Gas GBR Swimming team for the fourth leg of the FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup.

The event, which is being held in Cozumel, Mexico is another sea event where the team can gain more race experience, further improving their skills and tactics.

Prior to departure the team will assemble and train at K2 in Crawley as part of their preparations. In between practical sessions, the swimmers will take part in a number of workshops and lectures.

Berni Dietzig, Interim Open Water Lead said: “Cozumel is going to be another sea swim where our swimmers further improve their open water racing.

“Most of the world’s best open water swimmers will be present, similar to the races held in Brazil and Argentina earlier this year.  I predict that this race is going to be extremely tough and competitive.”

The British Gas GBR Open Water Swimming Team is:

Daniel Fogg – British Gas Loughborough ITC

Jack Burnell – British Gas Loughborough ITC

Tom Allen – Swansea University

Tom Sunter – City of Sheffield

Lucinda Campbell – Windsor
