Team GB have their flight seats secured this summer as British Airways are today announced as the team’s official airline partner for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
British Airways will fly our athletes to and from Rio and partner with Team GB once again following their role as official airline of London 2012 as well as carrying the team for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
To announce the partnership, which also sees British Airways team up with the British Paralympic Association, Team GB’s rugby sevens hopeful Dan Bibby attended a launch event at Heathrow along with ParalympicsGB triathlon hopeful Melissa Reid.
“This is a very exciting time for rugby sevens with it coming to the Olympic Games for the first time this year. Every player dreams of being on that British Airways plane bringing a medal home,” said Bibby.
Bill Sweeney, CEO of the BOA, said: “Flying home with the airline that carries our flag will be a great way to celebrate the achievements of Team GB, as we look forward to an exciting and hopefully successful Rio 2016 Olympic Games. We are delighted to once again partner with British Airways.”
