Regarded by many as the most powerful woman in British sport, this week’s guest on The Game Changers podcast is Liz Nicholl CBE.
Liz began her career as an international netball player, before leading England Netball for 16 years in her role as Chief Executive.
Joining UK Sport in 1999, Liz played a pioneering role in the development of the elite sport system through the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic and Paralympic cycles.
First as Director of Elite Sport and then CEO, Liz is recognised as the architect of the organisation’s ‘all or nothing’ approach, which transformed Britain’s performance on the international stage. During her tenure as CEO, GB achieved record performances at London 2012, Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016.
In this fascinating podcast, Liz talks openly about her extraordinary career and its highlights and challenges. She also shares her goals for netball globally, following her recent appointment as the President of the International Netball Federation.
Next week, in the final episode of the second series, my guest is Lauren Steadman. As well as being Para Triathlon World Champion and Olympic Silver medallist, Lauren enthralled the nation last year as a finalist on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
It’s an inspiring, open conversation with Lauren as she talks about her preparations to win Gold at Tokyo in 2020.
All The Game Changers podcasts remain free to listen to, with female trailblazers in sport that include Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE, Dame Katherine Grainger, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Denise Lewis OBE, Clare Connor CBE, Sally Munday OBE, Maggie Alphonsi MBE and Chrissie Wellington OBE.
