Our junior recurve team will not attend – its members may take part in a different event to optimise preparations. They will join the cadet team for the Youth European Championships in Bucharest in July.
Performance Pathway Manager, Ceri Ann Davies said: “We are delighted with this selection. These young athletes have worked incredibly hard at their sport over the past three years and it’s great to see strong, emerging talent. There is a real mix of personalities, which will yield some excited combinations. All these athletes just love to compete to win and have shown that delivering when it matters most, is when they enjoy their sport the most.”
Twelve compound archers will also be making the trip to Heviz. They are:
Cadets: Adam Carpenter, Lucy Mason, Izzy Carpenter, Hollie Smith, Layla Annison
Juniors: James Howell, Luke Ralls, Matthew Hall, Sam Jeram, Aalin George, Rebecca Lennon, Abbie Spinks
Jon Nott, Archery GB’s compound team leader, said: “I would like to congratulate the athletes on selection to the European Youth Cup in Heviz, Hungary.
“Archery GB compound is sending a team with a blend of experience and upcoming talent. We are using this as a training event for the European Championships in July. Following a winter of hard training and preparation, we are looking to build on the success of last year’s three World Championship medals. It’s exciting that Nichola Simpson will be leading the compound team at this event, as one of Britain’s all-time leading medal winners, she will bring great experience and advice to the team in the international arena.”
