WOMEN’S SUPER-8: VICTORY AT THAMES EXTENDS GD GAP AT TOP
GD were pushed hard by second-bottom Thames, and held a slender 11-10 lead at the break.
The result puts GD on 31 points and Thames on 16 points.
Angels match against NEM Hawks was postponed, giving Olympia strengthened the opportunity to move up to second spot, a chance they took with victory over bottom side Deva as they ran out 26-18 winners at Glyndwr. Deva lie two points adrift of Thames.
Former leaders Coventry Sharks slipped to their third straight defeat as they lost a nail-biting encounter against Ruislip Eagles 27-28. Coventry stay in fourth spot, while the Eagles increased the gap between them and Thames to four points, although they’ve played two matches more than their London rivals.
MEN’S SUPER-8: TABLE-TOPPERS GD BEAT HORNETS
The result puts GD on 30 points, while second-bottom Hornets – for whom it was a second-straight defeat – have 17 points.
Cambridge took beat NEM Hawks 28-27 in a thrilling encounter at Smithills. It was heartbreak for Hawks, who led 17-13 at half time, as they suffered their fourth loss in a row.
Hawks are sixth with 20 points, while Cambridge have 25 points.
Ruislip Eagles lost 26-33 to second-place Warrington Wolves but remain in fourth spot, ahead of Cambridge on goal difference. Wolves, leapfrog Olympia into second spot, on 27 points, one point ahead of the London side.
