The Handball Sportunion Leoben is pleased to announce the new signing of experienced goalkeeper Adrian Lombès-Birkenheuer. The 30-year-old Frenchman, currently under contract with Molsheim OC, brings not only a remarkable athletic résumé but also an impressive physical presence at 1.99 meters and 108 kilograms.

Lombès-Birkenheuer has gained valuable experience in several countries during his career. He has played in Spain, Denmark, and Germany, among others, where he served as goalie for Bergischer HC and demonstrated his talent. A particular highlight of his career was a Copa del Rey match in which his team faced Barcelona’s star players – an unforgettable moment that he proudly cites as one of his personal moments.
The discussions at the Handball Sportunion Leoben office were very positive from the start. Adrian received a warm welcome, and it quickly became clear that he would fit perfectly into the team. Michael Rainer, the sporting director of the Handball Sportunion Leoben, explained: “We are very happy to have Adrian completing our goalkeeper team. He brings a lot of experience from several countries and leagues, and we will benefit from that.”
The goalkeeper himself is equally excited about his new role. “I received a very warm welcome, and I immediately felt at home. I had good discussions with the board and the coach, which ultimately made the decision easier for me,” said Lombès-Birkenheuer.
