Handball Sportunion Leoben faces its next challenge on Sunday. The team from the mining town will travel to face the Perchtoldsdorf Devils. After their recent home victory, Leoben aims to carry that positive momentum and build on their performance. During the week, the decision was also made regarding the coaching position, with René Kramer’s contract not being renewed after the season.
Especially in recent matches, the team impressed with great morale and strong cohesion. Despite personnel shortages, the team displayed fighting spirit and focus. Coach René Kramer was very pleased with his team’s performance, saying: “Despite a depleted squad, we recently demonstrated superb morale. The lads showed what they’re capable of and ultimately earned the victory. We want to build on that on Sunday, because nothing will be handed to us on a silver platter.”
Leoben will once again have to push themselves to their limits in their away game in Perchtoldsdorf. The Perchtoldsdorf Devils/JAGS are considered a tough opponent, especially at home, where there have been many close games throughout the season. The Mining City team has recorded a narrow win and a loss in their head-to-head matchup in the regular season, making it all the more important for Leoben to stay focused throughout the entire game and carry the momentum from their home victory into the away game.
In the lead-up to the match, it was also announced that head coach René Kramer’s contract expires at the end of the season. The club will therefore start the next season with a new head coach. However, Kramer emphasized that this decision will have no impact on his work with the team. ”It won’t affect my work in any way. It’s a normal process in sports, and we’re parting on good terms. We still have a few games ahead of us, and I will prepare our team for them in the best possible way,” said the Leoben coach. Leoben press officer Alfred Leithold added: “We would like to thank René for his work with us and wish him all the best and much success for the future. However, there are still several rounds to play before the end of the season, and our focus is entirely on the entire team, which we will continue to support with all our strength, together with our coach.”
The focus at Handball Sportunion Leoben is therefore clearly on the sporting challenge. With commitment, passion and team spirit, the team aims to impress against the Perchtoldsdorf Devils and further distance themselves from the bottom of the table.
