The Groupama-FDJ cycling team is pleased to announce that Lewis Bower will join its WorldTour squad from June 1, 2025. After just over two years within the development structure, the New Zealand rider is now taking a new and important step in his career for the next two seasons, 2026 and 2027. With this promotion, Lewis Bower becomes the 19th rider from La Conti to join the WorldTour team since the structure’s creation in 2019, illustrating once again Groupama-FDJ’s commitment to training and transmission.

« Signing with a WorldTour team is a dream come true. I’ve been cycling for almost thirteen years, and getting my first WorldTour contract is something very special for me. I’m looking forward to racing at the highest level, discovering new races and living the experience to the full. In particular, I hope to be able to take part in a race in Australia next year: it would be an opportunity for my family and friends to see me race in a major event. The last few years with La Conti have been formative on every level. I’ve learned, I’ve grown, and I feel ready to take on this new challenge. »

« Lewis is a very determined person, driven by a real thirst for success. Crossing the planet to practice his passion and try to reach the highest level is a courageous step, a real challenge. He joined our organization at a young age, and has now been progressing with us for two and a half years. At the end of 2024, we wondered whether he might move up to the WorldTour. This winter, we set him precise objectives, all of which he has achieved with seriousness and determination. His move to the WorldTour is a logical next step. Lewis has interesting puncheur/sprinter qualities, and we’re counting on him to come into his own very quickly. He’s a quick learner, and in certain situations, we’ll be able to give him a leadership role, notably on the French FDJ Cup stages. The coming months will be a balance for him between learning, collective work and individual opportunities. »
