Mercury Marine Pro Team Angler Matt Robertson claimed victory at the 2026 World Bass Enterprises Champions Event in Nashville, earning $1.25 million and capturing the top prize from the tournament’s record-setting $3.25 million purse, the largest in professional bass fishing.
A Kentucky native, Robertson brought in 20 pounds, 2 ounces on Championship Sunday to secure the title against an elite field of anglers competing in one of the sport’s most prestigious events.
The World Bass Enterprises Champions Event brings together the sport’s top competitors to vie for a share of the largest purse in bass fishing, cementing its reputation as one of the premier championships in professional angling.
“During a tournament, I put my boat through a lot, and I need to know my motor is going to perform every single time, said Matt Robertson, Mercury Pro Team Angler. “My Mercury has proven I can count on it. That reliability gives me confidence to focus on finding fish, making the right moves and doing what it takes to win.”
As a member of the Mercury pro team, Robertson ran a Mercury 250 HP Pro XS throughout the competition, delivering the performance and reliability needed to navigate changing conditions and compete at the highest level.
The Champions Event victory adds another milestone to Robertson’s professional fishing career while reinforcing Mercury’s longstanding presence and success at the highest levels of professional tournament fishing.
