Leoben’s defense had mostly firmly under control on Saturday
Against a strong and compact team of medalp Handball Tirol, the Leobeners had to go to the limit to win a home victory. The start belonged to the landlords, who were in the lead with two hits of Matevz Kunst and another goal by Dennis Stolz. However, the guests found the connection and so both teams were from 10. minute at the same time and went into the break at 19:19.
In the second half of the game, the two teams continued where they had stopped before the break. However, the Leobeners were noticeably more consistent in attack and defense. The decision was only made in the final minutes when the landlords, driven by the numerous fans, turned up again and finally celebrated a 37:32 home victory.“We knew how good Tyrol is and that we had to deliver a good performance. After the defeat against Atzgersdorf, we absolutely wanted to give our fans a victory today and we did it. It was an important success with which I am very satisfied.”Marian Schweiger was happy.
In the table, the Leobeners are further on the 4. but were able to increase the lead on Tyrol to four points, which is also equal to Atzgersdorf and St. Pölten. Next Saturday we will head to Vienna, where a heavy opponent waits with table leader West Vienna.
