Team GB believes that sport should be open to everyone.
That’s why today, we’ll be showing our support to Stonewall UK and their Rainbow Laces campaign, by becoming Team LGBT+ for the day.
To celebrate Team GB’s rich diversity of athletes, we’ve created a special edition Team LGBT+ t-shirt, available to purchase exclusively on the Team GB Shop. The t-shirt is available from Wednesday, with the first 50 orders getting a free pair of rainbow laces. All sale proceeds will be going to Stonewall UK.
Throughout the week, we’ve also been telling some of the stories of members of the LGBT+ community from within the Olympic sporting world, focusing on their experiences within sport, the impact it’s had on their lives and the impact the LGBT+ community has had on their sport.
Ice hockey player Zach Sullivan and rowing’s Saskia Budgett have already shared their own stories, but keep an eye on TeamGB.com over the coming few days, as more Olympians and Olympic hopefuls tell us what the LGBT+ community means to them.
