There was drama plenty in the men’s 800 metres final. Max Bergin was leading the race with less than 10 metres to go when suddenly, he seemed to stumble, possibly because he pushed himself so hard to get to the winning line but he fell across the track.

However, instead of falling into first place, the stumble meant that he actually finished third.

One person’s misfortune allowed the eventually winner Daniel Rowden and second placed Ben Pattison to cross just in front of Bergin who was eventually awarded the bronze medal. Bergin’s injury prevented him from appearing on the podium so let’s hope he recovers soon.
